It's called Children Uniting Nations. She has been volunteering with them for 2 years & she says it is a great organization. They had various opportunities for mentoring, even for just one-day events. Here is their website: www.childrenunitingnations.org Hope this helps.... What's the point to that? So you can say you did it? Why not go with one that's already running and help them out? If you need to start something, go to a local church and ask to use their facilities and get their help. Then you can have a base and some help, and you don't have to file paperwork to be tax-deductible or get a building license or anything. Too many people spend so much time getting all the papers in order that they never do the work they wanted to do. Why do you need to start one? What's the point to that? So you can say you did it? You can sign-up by using the first website below. Alternatively you could contact Jennifer Bradford at (512) 637-0973 who is listed as the Mentor Coordinator according to the Austin School District's webpage. Good luck in what I have found to be a rewarding area (though not having done it specifically in Austin). I would contact the group Austin Partners in Education.
